The annual Howell Melon Festival is always one of the year's biggest community events, with loads of different activities around Howell and fun for the whole family. Highlights include the Melon Run 5K, the Melon Classic Golf Tournament, and tons of live music on the main concert stage. The Melon Festival celebrates a variety of melons only grown in this region, and celebrates the community of Howell, as well. You can look forward to this year's Howell Melon Festival from August 15-17, 2025, at locations all around downtown Howell.
Brighton Smokin' Rock-N-Blues Festival – Downtown Brighton, MI 48116
While we're mostly focused on August, we wouldn't want you to miss out on a great early-September event in Brighton. The Brighton Smokin' Rock-N-Blues Festival takes place September 5-6, 2025, with free admission, free activities, and plenty to do around downtown Brighton. Try some of the best barbecue you'll find anywhere, sample locally made craft beer in the beer tent, listen to live blues shows in the September sun on multiple stages, and shop from a variety of unique retail vendors.
Concerts at the Courthouse – 200 E. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843
The Concerts at the Courthouse series has been rocking with free concerts all summer long, and you can catch the final concerts of the summer on Friday evenings this August. The concert lineup for August 2025 is Air Margaritaville (August 1), Magic Bus (August 8), The Ultimate Kenny Rogers Tribute (August 15), Street Angels – Stevie Nicks Tribute (August 22), and the Allentown Billy Joel Tribute (August 29). Concerts always start at 7:00 PM on Fridays, and typically last for around two hours.
T-Rex Triathlon & Duathlon – 6301 Kensington Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
Have you been training hard this summer? The T-Rex Triathlon & Duathlon is back once again for a day of fun, challenging races. Try your hand at the duathlon, which features a 1.5-mile run, 12.4-mile bike ride, and a 5K run. Or opt for the full triathlon with a .5-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike ride on a smooth course, and 5K run on a paved path. This is the final race in a monthly summer series, and you can look forward to it on August 20, 2025, beginning at 6:00 PM at Island Lake Recreation Area.
Food Truck Fridays – 220 South Howell St., Pinckney, MI 48169
August brings the final event for this year of another popular, local summer series, with Food Truck Fridays in downtown Pinckney. Try delicious meals from a stacked lineup of food trucks from Michigan and beyond, shop from a variety of other vendors, and then settle in for a show. Each Food Truck Friday has featured a headlining concert, with The Phoenix Theory taking the stage on August 15, 2025, and food available from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
