Lakefront Living

Love spending time near the water? There are excellent options for lakefront living around Livingston County, whether you love fishing, boating, sunbathing, or scenic strolls on the waterfront. Each of Livingston County's lakes offers its own atmosphere, amenities, and activities, so there's truly a place for every taste. Our real estate agents have more on Livingston County's best spots for lakefront living.

  • East Crooked Lake – Genoa Township, MI
Our first two lakes share a similar name and location, but each is ideal for a different type of fun on the water. First up is East Crooked Lake, which covers about just under 260 acres and has an average depth of 17 feet. This lake is open to boating, fishing, swimming, and all types of watersports. Around the lake, you'll also find a public beach, a scenic park, and a convenient boat launch. If you want a lake that offers a little bit of everything, this is a great choice.

  • West Crooked Lake – Genoa Township, MI
Next up and located adjacent to our first entry, West Crooked Lake is smaller than its nearby counterpart, covering 95 acres and with an average depth of 12 feet. West Crooked Lake is considered an all-sports lake but still a no-wake lake, which means it's off limits for powered watercraft. However, that makes this lake an excellent destination for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and paddleboarding.

  • Lake Chemung – Howell, MI
Located within Howell just off Grand River Avenue, Lake Chemung certainly ranks among the most popular lakes in Livingston County for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. The lake is open to a wide range of watercraft, including boats, kayaks, jet skis, canoes, and paddleboards. It's an excellent lake for exciting activities like water skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding, with plenty of great fishing spots for anglers, as well. There are multiple parks and beaches located around the lake, as well as a public boat launch that provides easy access to the water. Between the lake itself and nearby amenities, including parks and beaches, Lake Chemung offers more than 330 acres to explore.

  • Woodland Lake – Brighton Township, MI
One of the cool things about Woodland Lake is the Organization of Woodland Lake, which is run by residents and aims to provide a fun, inviting environment around the lake, as well as supplying extensive information for anyone considering moving here. There's plenty to recommend this 290-acre lake as well, including its average depth of 35 feet, which helps make it ideal for a wide range of activities on the water. It's a great place for birding too, with many species visiting. You'll also find a number of parks, boat launches, and beaches positioned at convenient locations around the lake.

  • Bishop Lake – Brighton Township, MI
Do you prefer a private lake, which also offers private beaches and parks? Bishop Lake is a 119-acre lake in Brighton Township, with a smaller size and smaller crowds that make it an ideal choice for anyone who most values the tranquility of lakefront living. There's still plenty to do for recreation here as well, whether you go out on your boat, swim by the scenic shores, or traverse the extensive nature/hiking trails.

With over 55 lakes in the area, this is just the start of what you can explore in the local area. These are just some of the largest ones with a public boat launch available.
