The Great Start Coalition offers a variety of kid-friendly activities all year long, including their series of Great Start Summer Playdates, which you'll find at 7 different parks around Livingston County. This summer's Great Start Playdates are at Oceola Soccer Complex (June 7, 2025), Hartland Settlers Park (June 11), Brighton Imagination Station (June 27), Genoa Twp. Park (July 9), Pinckney Town Square Park (July 22), Fowlerville Community Park (July 31), and Bennett Memorial Park (August 12). All playdates are open to the public, with no admission cost.

Whether your kids love nature, animals, playing outside, or all of the above, the Howell Nature Center is sure to have something for you. Spend time at the playground surrounded by natural beauty, explore the Wild Wonders Wildlife Park, climb up to the treehouse, and visit Alexandria's NatureScape. Howell Nature Center hosts educational and fun events all summer long, as well, including great summer camps for kids of all ages, from day camps for young kids up to overnight camps for teens.
Brighton Imagination Station – 448 Mill Pond Ln., Brighton, MI 48116
In addition to hosting one of the playdates we mentioned above, Brighton Imagination Station is a great place to visit for summer family fun anytime. This 10,000 square foot playground is loaded with fun, wooden play structures for kids, designed to encourage active play and inspire imagination. There's also a short nature trail perfect for a stroll, and a scenic gazebo where free concerts are often held on Sunday evenings throughout the summer. Brighton Imagination Station is open from sunrise to sunset and is always free to visit.

Of course, the weather doesn't always cooperate for a visit to an outdoor playground, but fortunately, Livingston County offers a number of indoor playgrounds, as well. Salt & Light Kids Co. is one of the more recent indoor playgrounds to open, earning great reviews for both the playground and the boutique shop for kids. It's got tons of amazing activities for the youngest members of the family, where kids can imagine themselves doing a variety of fun, exciting jobs from doctor to race car mechanic.

Do your kids love to get creative? From pottery parties to fun, educational youth classes, The Ceramic Studio Etc. is sure to be a hit with kids who love art. One family favorite here is their Story Time at the Studio sessions, which include a story, snack, and a fun painting project for kids. They also offer a series of summer art camps, starting with the Mythical Forest camp, which begins June 23, 2025.
