Then Winter Trail Fest might be just the February activity for you, with half-marathon and five-mile trail runs at Island Lake Recreation Area. The Winter Market at Howell Opera House is always a highlight of the season for anyone who loves shopping, gifting, and home décor. During this event on February 16, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, the Howell Opera House is transformed into a marketplace packed with local vendors. They'll be offering great art, décor for your home, and gift items perfect for every occasion from Valentine's Day to birthdays. As always, the Winter Market at Howell Opera House is free to attend and open to the public.
Family Fun at Brighton District Library – 100 Library Dr., Brighton, MI 48116
The Brighton District Library is always a great destination for free and low-cost, family-friendly activities, including a full schedule for February with activities nearly every day of the month. You'll find Terrific Tuesdays story time for young kids every Tuesday, along with monthly events like Mother/Daughter Book Club (February 11, 2025), Gross Science with Vicky Lorenson (February 16), STEAM Squad Junior (February 19), Teen Breakfast Club (February 22), and many more.
Winter Playdates at Oceola Community Center – 925 W. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843
The Great Start Collaborative of Livingston County offers a number of resources and activities for families with kids, including their series of Winter Playdates. These events are typically unstructured, allowing kids to make new friends and parents to connect with other parents who have kids of a similar age. Like all events in the series, the final Winter Playdate on February 6, 2025, is free and open to the public.

Have kids in different age groups? That's no problem at Castaway Play Cafe, where there's something to entertain kids from toddlers to teens. The larger, 5-level play structure is complemented by smaller, inflatable play structures for younger kids, as well as a dedicated toddler play area.
