  1. Holiday Parade Open House - Novella's Pizza, 424 N. Main St., Milford, MI 48381
By the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the holiday season is in full swing. If you're headed to the Milford Gobbler Gallup, Milford Holiday Parade, or both, take a few moments to relax at the Holiday Parade Open House. Novella's Pizza, host of the open house, will have complimentary coffee and hot chocolate ready to keep you warm. Stop back after the parade for brunch or lunch before moving on to the next activity. Hours are 6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, 11/30.

  2. Brighton Holiday Craft Fair - Brighton High School, 7878 Brighton Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
Surprise family and friends with charming, one-of-a-kind gifts found at the Brighton Holiday Craft Fair. Shop from an incredible selection of handcrafted jewelry, perfumes and soaps, apparel, home decor items, and other products. Top local food trucks, such as Pit Boss Smokehouse, will be on hand with delicious food and beverages for sale. Get your shopping list ready for Saturday, 11/16, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Parking and admission are free.

  3. Holiday Book Festival - Kensington Mill Falls, 2055 S. Milford Rd., Milford, MI 48381
Do you have a bookworm or two on your gift list? Maybe you want some new books to enjoy this winter as you're curled up in front of a toasty fireplace. Immerse yourself in the latest literary delights at the Holiday Book Festival. More than 30 authors will be on hand representing Young Adult, Romance, Science Fiction, Mystery, and dozens of popular genres. Pick up an Inkwell Bingo card and have the authors sign their picture for a chance to win some great prizes. The festival is scheduled for 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, 11/30, and admission is free.

  4. Fantasy of Lights - State St., Howell, MI 48843
Avoid the crowded malls on Black Friday, 11/29, and take the family for a day of fun at the 40th annual Fantasy of Lights. At 3:30 p.m., the street transforms into Cleary University's Peppermint Path, where visitors can shop the downtown stores as they enjoy live entertainment and refreshments. Santa and his reindeer touch down at 4 p.m. for photo opportunities. Grand River Avenue is the site of the Fantasy 5K and Family Run/Walk at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by the main event, the Fantasy Parade, where every float boasts a minimum of 5,000 glittering lights.

  5. Beach Glass Christmas Trees Crafting Party - NautiMI on the River, 9260 McGregor Rd., Pinckney, MI 48169
Honor Michigan's iconic nickname of "Water-Winter Wonderland" by creating your own holiday decoration at the Beach Glass Christmas Trees Crafting Party. These polished fragments are formed when waves interact with coarse sand, much like a rock tumbler. Choose your colors from Turquoise, Lighthouse Red, and Deep Green, trimmed with mini-starfish and lights. Mark your calendar for Sunday, 11/24, at 2 p.m. The $65 ticket includes a personalized kit with all supplies and step-by-step instructions so you can craft your tree at your own pace.
