How much do they love dogs at Lu & Carl's Grille? The walls are adorned with pictures of precious pooches along with a sign that says, "Two dogs are better than one." Lu & Carl's is located at the downtown intersection of Main St. and Grand River, making it a place for you and Fido to partake in some prime people-watching on the patio. It's also a wonderful spot to enjoy a leisurely Sunday brunch with an impressive Bloody Mary bar. With 35 miles of trails across nearly 5,000 acres, Brighton Recreation Area provides endless opportunities for you and your four-legged friend to explore a variety of natural landscapes. Afterward, Fido can cool off at one of the dog-friendly shorelines along the various lakes and ponds. If you want an extended stay, there are five campgrounds to choose from, as well as rustic cabins and yurts to rent. Think of EZ Dog Park as a canine Disneyland. The scenic eight-acre fenced-in facility is family-owned and operated as a safe and clean place where dogs can romp and socialize leash-free. There's a separate section for smaller dogs and two sand piles for climbing, as well as mowed trails you can stroll with your pet. One of the more popular features is the man-made swimming pond and waterfall. Give Fido a challenge with the agility course inside the training building. EZ Dog Park is open 24/7. Entrance fees are $10 per day or $45 per month for unlimited visits. Whether you and your precious pooch are in the mood for a short jaunt or you're ready for a marathon hike, Mike Levine Lakelands Trail State Park is the place to be. The 34-mile trail extends from one end of Livingston County to the other and into neighboring Jackson and Ingham Counties. Lakeland Trail is part of the Great Lake-to-Lake Trail between South Haven and Port Huron. The trail is accessible 24/7 and there are no entrance fees.
