Livingston County Libraries

Livingston County is celebrated for some of the finest public libraries in the state of Michigan. Our real estate agents know that a good public library offers a variety of wonderful benefits to members of the community. 

These days, Livingston County libraries offer a full spectrum of in-person and online events for you to enjoy. In 2024, the library calendar will be bursting with plenty of live events to educate and entertain on today's most intriguing subjects. The Howell Carnegie Library is located at 314 W. Grand River Avenue, Howell, MI 48843.

Let's take a quick look at some of what you can expect:

  • Cabin Fever Reliever Winter Challenge at Howell Carnegie District Library
    The Cabin Fever Reliever Winter Challenge is the iconic online event pioneered by Howell Carnegie Library. Registration is free, and you can log on every week for different creative activities. Complete one of a large variety of weekly tasks to qualify for a weekly prize drawing, including a $25 gift card.

  • Ask a Tech at Howell Carnegie District Library
    Ask a Tech is a weekly event for adults that will take place all throughout February this year and deep into 2024. One of the most popular events for adults in the Livingston County Library system, it gives you a place to get free, walk-in help with your laptop, smartphone, or other devices. Appointments can be made weeks in advance!

  • Teen Volunteer Session at Howell Carnegie District Library
    Teen Volunteer Session takes place multiple times weekly throughout February and all year round. Teens from grades six through twelve can earn volunteer hours verified by library professionals. Volunteers will assist professional staff from the Youth Department with a variety of simple yet useful tasks.

  • Teen Escape Room at Howell Carnegie District Library
    Visit the Colbert Room on February 9 for the Teen Escape Room catering to grades six through twelve. It will all take place between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. as an after-hours family-friendly event. Kids will work together in teams to solve puzzles, and there will also be lots of snacks. Parents should be prepared to pick up their kids at the door at 5:00.

  • Tax Assistance with the Accounting Aid Society at Howell Carnegie Library
    Tax Assistance with the Accounting Aid Society is happening on February 10 starting at 10:00 a.m. and will continue on a regular basis all the way up through tax season. Visitors with an annual household income of less than $55,000 will be eligible for totally free assistance. To make the most of it, remember to bring your proof of income, charitable donations, and other relevant documents.

  • STEAM Club at Howell Carnegie Library
    The STEAM Club offers students hands-on opportunities to get involved with science, technology, engineering, math, and more. Children in grades three through six are encouraged to attend. On February 12, members and guests will learn about geology and the rock cycle by using candy. Naturally, they will get to enjoy some candy treats at the end of their experiments.

  • Memoirs, Etc. at Howell Carnegie Library
    Memoirs, Etc. is a virtual event that will start at 10:00 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14. Learn all about the different ways to write and share stories about your family, friends, and past events. There will be continuing drop-in meetings on the second Wednesday of each month so participants can share their work with the group as desired.
