BBQ Livingston County

Whether you prefer brisket, pulled pork, or smoked chicken, is there anything more satisfying than a big plate of BBQ? Add a piece of cornbread on the side, and it's even better. Our area has several great BBQ spots, and our real estate agents are excited to recommend a few of the best ones below.

  • Ginopolis' Bar-BQ Smokehouse: 201 W. Main St., Brighton, MI 48116
    Ginopolis' Bar-BQ Smokehouse
is a traditional BBQ restaurant that serves all the classics. Their Pulled Pork Sliders are perfect for a smaller lunch portion. Guests love their Pulled Chicken Sliders, too. If you're in the mood for ribs, you can't go wrong with the St. Louis Style Ribs. They're dry-rubbed, smoked, and served with cornbread and two sides. Choose from mac & cheese, baked beans, sweet potato mash, creamy house 'slaw, and other favorites. If you're in the mood for a drink, the Famous Bourbon Slushy is the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

  • Cajun Joe's: 5757 Whitmore Lake Rd., Suite 500, Brighton, MI 48116
    Cajun Joe's
is a family-owned barbecue restaurant that has served the Brighton area since 1991. While best known for their Cajun cuisine, they also serve some incredible BBQ ribs. You can order a full or half rack, with or without sides.

Another favorite at Cajun Joe's is their homemade brownies. They are the perfect, sweet-treat end to a delicious BBQ meal. Guests also love the gumbo, corn muffins, and fried pickles.

  • The Smoke Doctor: 5589 M-36, Pickney, MI 48169
Take a short drive to nearby Pickney, and order some BBQ at The Smoke Doctor. Their sandwiches are really popular at lunchtime. Choose between brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. For dinner, you can't go wrong with the 2-meat combo platters. Along with your two types of meat, you can enjoy sides like mac-n-cheese, loaded mashed potatoes, and collard greens.

The Smoke Doctor also serves all-day breakfast. So, if you're in the mood for waffles, biscuits and gravy, or a breakfast sandwich, this is the place to go.

  • Getty Up BBQ: 921 Hadden Ave., Howell, MI 48843
Down the road in Howell, you can enjoy a meal at Getty Up BBQ, a craft BBQ restaurant that opened in 2021. They do a lot of catering, but they also serve customers at their sit-down restaurant.

Start with an appetizer, like chicken wings or jalapeno poppers. When it comes time to order your entree, you can't go wrong with the pulled pork nachos topped with real shredded cheese and pork. The St. Louis ribs are also a hit. They come with your choice of creative sauces, which include Dr. Pepper, Cherry Pepsi, and Garlic & Onion options.

  • Smoke Street: 424 N. Main St., Milford, MI 48381
    Smoke Street
is a laid-back barbecue restaurant that smokes its meats in-house using hickory and cherry. They have a great selection of craft beers on tap, plus Happy Hour deals Monday - Friday.

The dinner menu at Smoke Street includes such wonders as smoked half chickens, 12-hour slow-cooked brisket, and St. Louis-style ribs. The Boss Hog Combo is a guest favorite. It comes with pulled pork, brisket, and a sausage link with cornbread and two sides.
