Movie Marathon

Christmas movies are one of our favorite things about the holiday season. As soon as Halloween is over, our real estate agents are busy watching their favorite holiday films. The Grinch, It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, our list of favorites goes on and on.

One of the things that makes holiday movies so special is watching these classic films with your friends and family. Curling up in a comfortable, cozy living room and diving into a movie marathon is quite simply our favorite thing to do in December. In fact, December 23 is National Christmas Movie Marathon Day!

If you're planning to have friends and family over for some festive films this year, here is how to prepare:

  1. Plan Your Movies
If you're going to host a movie marathon, then you'll need to carefully craft the right selection of holiday movies. Don't just choose your own favorites, consider what your audience would like. Decide whether to show dramas, comedies or just classic movies. Or, mix in a little bit of everything. If young kids will be attending, then you might to keep things light and pull out the cartoons or G-rated movies.

  2. Create A Cozy Viewing Area
If you expect your guests to stick around for the whole marathon, then you'll need to make sure they're comfortable. Whether it's the living room or game room, find the area of your home with the most comfortable furniture and the largest TV. Then make sure you have plenty of pillows and blankets on hand so everybody can be warm and cozy. Also, make sure the thermostat is set to a comfortable temperature. Nobody wants to be cold during a movie marathon!

  3. Top Things Off With Some Decor
The key to a successful movie marathon is ensuring your guests are in the holiday spirit as soon as they arrive. Decorate the room with lights, wreaths, stockings, and other decor. Light up your tree, and if you have a fireplace, you'll definitely want to light it.

  4. Plan Some Games And Activities
Back-to-back movies without a break can get sometimes be a little too much, so it might be fun to break up the movies with a few games. Keep some board games nearby or plan a few special activities. You could even do a small gift exchange.

  5. Don't Forget The Food And Drinks
If you're having a true movie marathon, then there is a good chance it'll cross into a mealtime. Plan ahead and choose an easy dinner option that everyone will enjoy. Pizza is usually the most common choice, but a taco bar or takeout can also work. Make sure to consider your guest's dietary restrictions when making a decision. It can also help to buy some pretzels, chips, and candy, so everyone has plenty to eat during the movies.

The holidays are extra special when you have a new place to host all your friends for gatherings like these.
