For more than 60 years, four generations have kept Grainger's Orchard and Cider Mill going strong. According to Jeff Grainger, the family stays focused on the basics, which means turning out approximately 17 varieties of apples in their five-acre orchard. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday.

Find out why readers of USA Today voted Spicer Orchards as third-best in the nation. This year, they added "Crack in a Sack," the popular caramel corn brand, to their lineup of cider, donuts, and caramel apples. Kids love the playground, which features a tree house and a family of goats. During weekends, tour the orchard on a train or hayride. Visit the winery for wines and hard ciders, as well as lunch at the onsite grill. Only 1 mile north of the town of Hartland, Spicer Orchards is open daily from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Ore Creek Craft Cidery & Taproom - 9280 McGregor Rd., Pinckney, MI 48169
The road to Ore Creek Craft Cidery & Taproom began in a basement near Pinckney. One of the founders enjoyed making cider as a home-based hobby. Encouraged by friends and family, he went on to enter and win competitions, which led to the cidery in the old hardware store building. Stop by the Cider Shack for drinks, games, and occasional live music. Hours are 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, noon - 8 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 4 p.m. Sunday.
- Parshallville Cider Mill - 8507 Parshallville Rd., Fenton, MI 48430
Parshallville Cider Mill, once known as Tom Walker's Grist Mill, was named a Michigan Historic Site in 1975. Take a family photo alongside the 136-year-old mill, one of the few remaining water-powered mills in the state. Try a cider slush with the donuts, cinnamon raisin bread, and apple pie. Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday through Friday.
- Schell Family Farm - 10055 Dexter-Pinckney Rd., Pinckney, MI 48169
Encouraged by a successful opening in 2019, Chris and Dea Schell plan to build Schell Family Farm into a major tourism and entertainment destination. The sprawling 250-acre grounds are home to apple and fruit orchards, sunflower and wildflower fields, Christmas trees, and a pumpkin patch. Chris and Dea also produce and bottle their maple syrup and offer scenic wagon rides through the property. Schell Family Farm is open Friday from noon - 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Markillie Orchard - 5200 N. Latson Rd., Howell, MI 48855
While apple trees were first planted at Markillie Orchard in 1998, making it one of the newer local farms, the facility has already become one of the more popular ones. In 2006, they added a stunning knotty pine barn to serve as a sales and dining area. Customers keep returning for the tasty cider slush, and there's a great outdoor play area for kids. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday.
- Blake's - 61475 Silver Lake Rd., South Lyon, MI 48178
With a history dating back to 1920, Blake's has been offering fall fun in the Livingston County area for over a century now. The South Lyon location has plenty of fall activities to choose from, like u-pick apples and pumpkins. Don't forget to try some of their award-winning Hard Cider. Pints are available at this location, or take home a 6-pack to enjoy later.
