  A small, family-owned campground overlooking Louise Lake, Hide Away Park Campground is a great spot for a relaxing weekend camping trip. They have campsites ranging from primitive tent sites to full-hookup RV lots, and the lake offers excellent fishing. A boat launch is located in the park, and the small lake is perfect for canoes and kayaks. Hide Away Park Campground caters mostly to families and retirees, so if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful campground where you can enjoy the sunset over the lake while sitting around a crackling campfire.

  The rugged landscape of Island Lake Recreation Area is often compared to that of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. And indeed, this 4,000-acre Livingston County Park does offer the sort of wild, untamed experience that one seldom finds in lower Michigan. With accommodations ranging from group campsites and rustic cabins to a riverside paddle-in campground, there are numerous ways to spend the night in this unique and beautiful place. Island Lake Recreation Area includes several inland lakes as well as a lengthy stretch of the Huron River, which is popular for paddling trips.

  Taylors Beach Campground is a spacious, privately-owned family campground on the shore of Cooks Lake.   Spanning the line between Livingston and Washtenaw Counties, Pinckney Recreation Area offers a different kind of camping experience for adventurers who really want to get off the beaten path. This recreation area's wild, beautiful 11,000-acre landscape is crisscrossed by backpacking trails, with rustic backcountry campsites scattered along them. Several hike-in campsites are located at Blind Lake and Crooked Lake.
