Brighton Summer

With its proximity to several lakes, Brighton features plenty of outdoor summer fun, but our real estate agents know there's a lot of excitement on dry land as well. Take in the amazing local culture at these art, music, and food festivals taking place around Brighton.

  • Brighton Art & Music Festival - 217 W. Main St., Brighton, MI 48116
A popular Brighton festival is returning with a new name. The previous 36 stagings of this popular summer event were known as the Main Street Wine, Art, & Music Festival. But the name is the only change for the Brighton Art & Music Festival as the festival once again features nearly 100 arts and crafts vendors and vintage market booths. Live music will be supplied by Kari Holmes on Friday night and the Corktown Pipes on Saturday evening. Hours are 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, August 5, and 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 6.

  • Turn Up the AMP! - Amphitheater on Mill Pond, 206 W. Main, Brighton, MI 48116
Enjoy cool music on a hot summer night while supporting the community around Brighton. For the seventh year, Lake Trust Credit Union is sponsoring Turn Up the AMP!, a monthly series of concerts at the beautiful Amphitheater on Mill Pond. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring donations of non-perishable canned goods or money for the Livingston County Hunger Council. Groove to the smoky blues sound of the Chris Canas Band on Wednesday, August 10, and rock out to the Randy Brock Group on Wednesday, September 14. Both shows start at 7 p.m.

  • Howell Melon Festival - 200 E. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843
Did you know that the area near Howell has a namesake cantaloupe that's grown only here? It's a perfect excuse for the Howell Melon Festival, which has been celebrated since 1960. Melon-centric events include a 5K run, the Mascot Dash, a scavenger hunt, a parade, a cornhole tournament, and Trivia Night. Kids love the Melon Patch, which is full of inflatables and entertaining activities. Be sure to sample some melon ice cream and melon-flavored beer. As if all that wasn't enough, there's also a car show, farmer's market, and live music. The Howell Melon Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, through Sunday, August 14. Visit the website for times.

  • Smokin' Jazz & BBQ Blues Festival - 200 N. First St., Brighton, MI 48116
The end of summer is sweeter than bitter, thanks to Brighton's signature event, the Smokin' Jazz & BBQ Blues Festival. Whet your appetite with the tantalizing aroma that fills the downtown streets as expert 'que masters prepare their treats. Get your fill of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, mac & cheese, and other BBQ classics. Make your voice heard and vote for the People's Choice for Best Barbecue. Grab a seat at the beer tent on Mill Pond Lane to catch the tunes from top local and national jazz and blues performers. Festivities take place from 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday, September 9, and noon - 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 10.
