Real Estate Agent Tips

Utilizing the services of a real estate agent to help you sell your home in 2022 is a wise decision. A real estate agent can save you time when it comes to navigating paperwork and can get you a much better price for your home. But once you've said yes to using an agent, how do you find the right one?

There's no magic formula for finding the right agent, but our real estate agents have some good tips that will help you in your search. Remember that the right agent can expedite your sale, mitigating stress, and contributing to a satisfactory experience for seller and buyer.

There are so many real estate companies and so many real estate agents out there, it can seem daunting to narrow down your choices and find just the right one. But there are ways to choose wisely.

  1. Experience is helpful, but other factors matter too.
An experienced real estate agent is a good thing. You want someone who knows the ropes and has experience determining what's the right asking price for your home in your location, knows how to negotiate a closing, and knows how to navigate through the stacks of paperwork involved in selling a home. But you're also looking for the right personality. Does this agent have good people skills? Will the agent work hard to get you the right price? Is it someone you can relate to? Liking your agent is an important part of the process.

  2. Interview at least three agents before you choose.
Just as if you were interviewing an employee for a job, choose at least three agents to interview. Check out these individuals for certain qualities. For instance, do they seem hyper-aggressive, as if they're more intent on pushing a sale than making sure you're satisfied with the negotiations? Look for an agent who exhibits qualities of patience and empathy with your needs.

  3. Hyper-local knowledge is key when searching for an agent.
Your agent should know your neighborhood. They should know what houses are selling for, as well as other trends that might have an impact on real estate sales in your area: crime stats, schools, and new development, just for examples.

  4. Look for referrals.
Referrals are a great way to find an agent. You may find these on an agent's web page or through social media, or you might talk to your neighbors, friends, or people who are in business locally. Ask questions about references. Were they satisfied with the agent? Why or why not? Did they get the right price? Ask if they consider the agent reliable, trustworthy, and sensitive to a client's needs and wishes.

  5. Is your real estate agent tech-wise?
No doubt you know that most real estate sales start on the Internet! No seller can afford to be without good pictures of their property. If you aren't up to putting this together, your real estate agent should be. It may be advantageous to find an agent with some facility in creating virtual tours, electronic paperwork, and signings, as well as 3D and 360-degree views inside a home.
