Livingston County Fall

There's no place quite like Michigan in the fall. It's harvest time at our local farms and orchards, and our parks are ablaze with the colors of the season. Our real estate agents are always game for a fall road trip, and these are our favorite places to stop and enjoy the season in Livingston County.

  • Spicer Orchards - 10411 Clyde Rd, Fenton, MI 48430
Fall is the best time to visit Spicer Orchards when you-pick apples are in season, and fall festivities take place every weekend. Spicer Orchards offers a lot of family fun this time of year, including tractor and hayrides, corn mazes, and carnival attractions. They also serve up some killer homestyle barbecue and offer pick-your-own apple varieties, including Gala, Golden Delicious, and McIntosh. There's even a winery on-site.

  • Kensington Metropark - 4570 Huron River Pkwy, Milford Charter Twp, MI 48380
There are a lot of great places to watch the leaves change in Livingston County, but few are more beautiful than Kensington Metropark. Spanning nearly 4,500 acres, this sprawling park includes many miles of woodland trails that are open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. There's also a farm center within the park, where you can meet some friendly farm animals and take part in their annual fall festival.

  • Eternity Brewing Company - 4060 E Grand River Rd, Howell, MI 48843
You can grab a cold one at Eternity Brewing Company any time of year, but fall is our favorite time to visit our local craft brewers. Not only do they have a warm, welcoming atmosphere in their spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas, but they also brew up some tasty fall beers every year just in time for Oktoberfest. They also serve some great pub grub.

  • Erwin Orchards - 61475 Silver Lake Rd, South Lyon, MI 48178
Livingston County offers no shortage of great farms to visit in the fall, but Erwin Orchards is special. They offer a pick-your-own apple orchard and raspberry patch every autumn and a pumpkin patch where you can pick out all your fall pumpkins. Fall also brings a lot of fun activities to the farm, including hay wagon rides, a corn maze, and opportunities to pet some very friendly goats. The folks at Erwin Orchards also make some of the best fresh-pressed, unpasteurized apple cider around, and their apple spice donuts are an annual tradition.

  • Island Lake Recreation Area - 6301 Kensington Rd, Brighton, MI 48116
Most people visit Island Lake Recreation Area in summer, but this vast Livingston County park is also a highly underrated fall destination. The park's rugged landscape looks like it would be more at home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, despite being a short drive from Detroit. Fall is the perfect time to pack a picnic and paddle a canoe or kayak along the picturesque lakeshore while the leaves change.
