Summer 5Ks to Run in Near Livingston County
Training for a 5K is such a fun and productive way to improve your fitness and work towards a goal. Whether you're a dedicated runner or a newbie to the sport, it's fun to gather with other runners and give it your all — usually for a good cause. Luckily, there are plenty of exciting 5K races scheduled in Livingston County this summer. Here are a few our real estate agents have come across.
- Hungry Duck 5K: Brighton, MI 48116
The 15th annual Hungry Duck 5K starts at 7:15 am on July 4th, 2021. It's associated with the Hungry Duck Half-Marathon. The course winds through downtown Brighton, and you're sure to pass some Brighton homes for sale along the way. Most of the course is paved or on packed dirt, and there are a few hills.
The registration fee is $25 per person if you register by June 29th. Proceeds go to local charities that help fight hunger in the area. There are awards for overall male and female winners, and also for each age group. - Fund a Life 5K: 7878 Brighton Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
The 5th annual Fund a Life 5K is a great way to get your own heart pumping while raising funds to help those facing major, life-altering circumstances. The race is scheduled for July 17, 2021, and starts at 8:05 am, with packet pickup between 6:45 and 7:45 am.
The course passes the gorgeous Brighton Millpond and many key downtown sights. After the race, participants are invited to participate in guided yoga on the football field. This will help you stretch and wind down after a challenging race. - Julianna's Wishes - Miles for Smiles: 1200 Grand River Rd., Howell, MI 48843
Scheduled for August 7, 2021, Julianna's Wishes: Miles for Smiles is a race held in memory of Julianna Ward Brown, a child lost too soon. In addition to a 5K, there is also a 10K race and a short kids run. You can look for Howell homes for sale along the way.
If you are unable to attend in person, there is also the option of entering virtually. You can complete a 5K or 10 anywhere and submit your data for credit. The first 100 people to sign up get a special Smiley Face shoelace charm, and all participants get medals. - Viking Dash Trail Run: 8814 Hankerd Rd., Gregory, MI 48137
If you'd rather run on trails than on streets, then the Viking Dash Trail Run is a good choice. In addition to a 5K, they also offer 10K and half marathon races. The course winds through the hills and along the lake in Halfmoon Lake Park. This isn't far from some Pinkney homes for sale.
The Viking Dash is scheduled for August 22nd, 2021, with a 7:00 am start time. Dress in Viking garb to enter the costume contest, and expect a jovial atmosphere! - Dash for Darian 5K: 7878 Brighton Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
Beginning at Brighton High School, the Dash for Darian 5K is a fundraiser for the Darian Locklear Project. It starts at 9:00 am on July 24th, with prizes and refreshments after the race.
Anyone who registers for the race gets a free bracelet. There will also be a low-key hula hooping and jump roping competition for the kids.
