Lake Home Livingston County

If you own a lake house, you want to ensure that it creates a welcoming atmosphere for your next gathering or vacation. Our real estate agents know that it only takes a few small changes to transform the look of your space.

Already dreaming about spending time at your lake home this summer? With how many lakes we have in Livingston County, you certainly aren't the only one! Here are a few additions you can add to your lake home that your whole family will enjoy.

  1. Comfortable Seating
Your lake house provides a peaceful haven for your family and friends. Make sure that your home encourages optimal relaxation with hanging seats or a hammock. You can situate your hanging seats outside, on your deck, or inside your home. A hanging seat is a perfect spot to enjoy the gorgeous lake views while you read, relax with your family, or just sit back and rest.
  1. A White Fireplace
The fireplace is your lake home's top gathering spot on a chilly evening. Lighten your lake home's living room or den by adding white coloration to your fireplace. You have a couple of options for incorporating lighter hues. If you have a brick or stone fireplace consider painting it. Or, you might decide to paint the mantle and molding around the fireplace to give it a quick makeover. A classic white hue also suits a variety of different home styles.
  1. Repurposed Water Gear
If your trusty water skis or kayak have seen better days, don't throw them out. Instead, repurpose them into meaningful home decor or furnishings. An old oar or water ski instantly provides a bit of character to your lake home. Use them to decorate a room, or incorporate them into your home's railing. Maybe you have an old canoe that isn't lake-worthy. Add it to the interior of your lake home and use it to store your blankets, board games, or extra throw pillows. Or, take it outside and use it as a planter for your favorite flowers.
  1. Drapery Free Windows
Perhaps you have a door or window in your lake home that offers stunning views of the water. Maximize these views by removing any blinds, curtains, or drapes from these areas. If you have concerns about privacy, add sliding pocket doors to your windows and glass doors. These doors retreat into your wall space when they're not in use so that they don't impede your home's views.
  1. An Inflatable Raft or Lake Mat
Make sure that your time in the lake is just as fabulous as your time inside your lake home. An inflatable raft or lake mat is the ideal spot to lounge, nap, read, or snack while you're enjoying the lake. Kids and adults alike love using a raft or lake mat to show off their best jumps. A raft or mat also serves as a makeshift table when you're on the water; use it for a game of cards or to keep your essentials close by.
