The recreation area also includes fishing piers, cabins and lodges, a disc golf course, playgrounds, picnic areas, and more.

One of the most legendary ski areas in the Midwest, Mt. Brighton has been Livingston County's premier winter destination since 1960. Ranging from bunny hills to 250-foot vertical drops, the ski area spans 130 acres and includes 25 miles of trails, attracting skiers and snowboarders from all over the state. Mt. Brighton Ski Area also offers equipment and lessons for all ages and experience levels.
- Secunda Museum - 3750 Cleary Dr, Howell, MI 48843
The Secunda Museum is part of the Cleary University campus and offers the largest public display of art in the county. Displaying an ever-changing array of works in all mediums, the museum shows off work by students, local creators, and world-renowned artists alike. The museum is named for Arthur Secunda, a celebrated 20th-century artist whose career began in Detroit in the 1940s.

Just outside the city of Brighton, there are a lot of things that make the Island Lake Recreation Area a unique entry into Michigan's state park system. Home to the only hot air balloon port in a Michigan state park, the recreation area offers a rugged landscape that feels much like the Upper Peninsula. With a chain of lakes that makes it a great spot for fishing and boating, the Island Lake Recreation Area also offers picnic areas, volleyball courts, cabin rentals, and campgrounds ranging from primitive to modern.
