Livingston County Bike Trails
Pump up your tires and strap on your helmet — May is National Bike Month! Cyclists throughout Michigan will celebrate National Bike to Work Week during May 13-19 and National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17!  Here are six great biking trails in Livingston county you should check out!

  1. Brighton Mountain Bike Trailhead – Brighton Recreation Area near the Bishop Lake Complex, 7050 Bishop Lake Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
    Distance: 15-17 Miles
    Route: Two trails – Murray Lake Trail and Torn Shirt Trail


    The Brighton Recreation Area is just across the street from many Hamburg Township homes for sale and offers a scenic ride for nature lovers. The park has two riding trails: The Murray Lake Trail is 7-9 miles long and is a moderate trail to tackle. The Torn Shirt Trail is just over 8 miles long and will challenge bikers with rugged descents and sharp climbs.

  2. Pinckney Recreation Area – 855 Silver Hill Rd., Pinckney, MI 48169
    Distance: 2-24 Miles

    Route: Three trails – Silver Lake Trail, Crooked Lake Trail, and Potawatomi Trail

    If you're looking for a long afternoon of cycling in a contained area, head to the Pinckney Recreation Area and take on their three trails. This sprawling green space is a few intersections south of Pinckney homes for sale and provides residents with dozens of outdoor activities. Mountain bikers from all around the region come to the park for a blood-pumping off-road ride. The 2-mile Silver Lake Trail and 5-mile Crooked Lake Trail both present a fun ride, but it's the 17-mile Potawatomi Trail that serious cyclists love. Combine all three for an exciting 24-mile challenge!

  3. Milford Trail – Trailhead at YMCA, 300 Family Dr., Milford Charter Twp, MI 48381
    Distance: 3.6 Miles
    Route: From the YMCA to the Dairy Queen on S. Milford Rd.


    Gather the kids and bring the family to the Milford Trail. This walking/biking trail will keep you at a leisurely pace as you and your little ones bike from the YMCA down to Dairy Queen for a delicious treat. Located right next door to Milford Township homes for sale, the Milford Trail is an easy and relaxing ride for bikers of all ages.

  4. Huron Valley Trail – 58000 Grand River Ave., New Hudson, MI 48165
    Distance 10.5 Miles
    Route: From the Pontiac Trail at Lyon Oaks County Pak to the City of South Lyon


    The Huron Valley Trail is a favorite among Milford and South Lyon locals because it conveniently connects to a handful of fantastic area parks like Kensington Metropark and Island Metropark. This trail, which will take you passed beautiful South Lyon homes for sale, is a little over 10-miles long. Once an old railroad track, the route has been paved for cyclists to enjoy.

  5. Holly-Holdridge Mountain Bike Trail – in the Holly Recreation Area on Hess Rd., Holly, MI 48442
    Distance: 29-miles
    Route: Seven loops create a network inside the Holly Recreation Area


    If you're considering moving into one of the cozy Fenton homes for sale, there's an amazing place to cycle just a few miles east. The Holly-Holdridge Mountain Bike Trail Network has seven trails of varying lengths and difficulties that will suit any rider. From West Short Loop's .7-mile ride to Gruber's Grinder 15.5-mile trek, there's a path for everyone in the Holly Recreation Area.

  6. Island Lake Recreation Area – 6301 Kensington Rd., Brighton, MI 48116
    Distance: 4 Miles
    Route: Paved trail within the park.


    Another easy-going trail for riders of all ages, the paved bike trail in the Island Lake Recreation Area connects to the Lyon Township and Kensington Metropark bike trails if you want to extend your trip. If not, feel free to enjoy a soft pedal through this gorgeous lake-side park with plenty of Brighton homes for sale in the vicinity.
