Brighton MI July 4 Celebration
We've been known to have a good time on the 4th of July here in Brighton, MI, and 2018 is shaping up to be no exception. With Independence Day right around the corner, our REALTORS® are here to give you a heads up on all the fun happenings in Brighton. We have one of the best Independence Day parades around, but there's not the only thing going down on July 4th.

Brighton's Independence Day Celebration

The parade kicks off at 10 o'oclock on the morning of July 4th, but you'll want to be in town a little early. The festivities get started at 7 am with our annual 5k and half-marathon runs, and the fun goes on well into the day. Here's the schedule for the 4th of July in Brighton, MI:

  • 7:00 am – The Hungry Duck Run is an annual tradition that is now in its 12th year! The run includes a 5k and half-marathon course that takes participants on a scenic run/walk throughout the Brighton area, starting in Downtown Brighton and meandering through the city, among the surrounding hills, and along the shore of Woodland Lake. Registration will be available on the morning of the event (though it will make things easier if you register ahead of time), and all proceeds from the run go toward Livingston County hunger programs.

  • 9:30 am – The Duckling Dash is a fun, kid-friendly run that gives kids 10 and under a chance to run for fun up Main Street in Brighton, hot on the heels of the Sunrise Rotary Duck on its 4 wheeler. There's no charge, and no registration is required; just show up at the corner of Main and St. Paul in Downtown Brighton at around 9:15 am.

  • 10:00 am – The Brighton Independence Day Parade gets underway, starting at "Old Scranton," at the top of the hill overlooking Downtown Brighton, at 10 am sharp! From there, the parade makes its merry way through town and to Brighton High School. Veterans, floats, fire trucks, music, classic cars, trucks and tractors, church groups, community businesses, public officials, and nonprofits make up the 75-plus entries in this year's parade!

  • 11:15 am – The Great Duck Race has become a favorite 4th of July tradition in Brighton, and you definitely don't want to miss it! Head to the Millpond right after the parade to see 3,000 numbered rubber ducks dumped into the Millpond and bob their way to the finish line. Tickets to "buy" one of the ducks are available at the parade, and if your duck ends up being one of the first three to reach the finish line, you get to walk away with a hefty prize – $2,500 for first place, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third. Proceeds go toward funding grants and programs of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation.
