Michigan Fun in Howell Balloonfest June 22 - 24
One of the first things many people do once they've found a new home is look for fun ways to spend their free time in the community. It's even better when you find something that's a uniquely local experience that you and your family and friends can look forward to every year. If you look up in the sky outside Howell homes this June 22-24 you'll find exactly that. The Michigan Challenge Balloon Festival is an amazing event you won't want to miss. Michigan Challenge Balloon Festival
The Michigan Challenge Balloon Festival is an annual event. Pilots will compete for the hot air ballooning state championship. Participants can watch as colorful hot air balloons fill the sky above. It's truly a sight to behold and you'll want to see all you can. You'll be able to talk to the pilots too, who will be happy to answer all your questions.
The Balloon Festival is more than just a race. It's a celebration. The hot air balloons are certainly the main attraction, but you'll find lots more family fun here too. Balloons will launch all three days of the festival. But make sure to leave time in between to experience everything else!
Local Entertainment
Carnival rides, food trucks and local food vendors will be available to add to the fun. Carnival ride wristbands are an additional charge. Three is also an arts festival featuring the works of local artists, antiques, souvenirs and other items for sale. Of course there are always many balloon themed items available so you'll be able to find the perfect memento.
While you're busy looking up at the balloons, you'll want to make sure you don't miss the other unique events taking place in the sky. Stunt kite demonstrations and skydivers will wow you almost as much as the balloons.
Take a break with plenty of live music and other live entertainment that takes place throughout the day. There are plenty of kid's activities, some of which are new this year so make sure you check them out. At noon on Saturday there will be hands on science activities, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons Ben the Lego Man will make hot air balloons out of Legos and kids can build their own too. Other attractions that are new this year are the Detroit Circus and flyovers of the Waco Biplane on Saturday afternoon.
Fireworks Show
A summer festival wouldn't be complete without a fireworks show. Your Friday night will be filled with sparkles and booms that will have you watching in amazement right up until the end.
But the fireworks show is only the beginning. Saturday night is the even bigger attraction, the balloon glow. Over 20 hot air balloons will light up their colors against the night sky for a truly stunning display.
