Grand River Avenue is also home to the Howell Opera House—built in 1881—and the Livingston County Courthouse constructed in 1889.

- The 34th Annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, June 22-24, 2018
Your whole family can celebrate hot air balloons at the annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest. The festival features live entertainment, the Arts Festival & Marketplace, a hot air balloon race, and a Saturday Night Balloon Glow.
- 58th Annual Howell Melon Festival, August 17-19, 2018
You can join 20,000 guests in celebrating a cantaloupe grown only in Howell. At the Melon Festival, you can enjoy live entertainment, eat melon treats, participate in the Melon Run, and more.
- 16th Annual The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Saturday, October 27, 2018, 6 PM to 9 PM
Hosted by the Howell Parks & Recreation Authority, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is dubbed Livingston County's premier event with the Annual Headless Horseman 5K/10K & Monster Mile, hayrides and many more family-friendly fall activities.
- The Fantasy of Lights kicks off the Howell's holiday season with the Fantasy of Lights parade, the Fantasy 5K, entertainment for the entire family, and a special visit from Santa.
